Jewellery Showcase

April 23, 2010

This is a little showcase of new pieces of jewellery at Heart Gallery. Some have arrived already and are twinkling away in the cabinets and others are due any time soon … enjoy.

Sarah Pulvertaft's seed collection is simply stunning

Sarah uses traditional jewellery-making techniques to create contemporary jewellery, which is paradoxically decorative and minimal, drawing inspiration from many sources, including the visual art-world.

Sarah’s current work, from her Seeds collection, was inspired by a handful of seed and the profusion of repeated elements in nature. Heart Gallery is proud to showcase this collection of Sarah’s in silver, oxidised silver and plated silver.

One of Sarah's stunning rings from this collection was worn by Deborah Meaden when filming the last series of Dragon's Den.

Personally, I have my eye on one of these rings myself as I think they are perfect to compliment a new frock I have just bought for a May wedding!

Becca Williams Tenby Street Brooches

Bright, seaside memories of a childhood spent roaming beach front towns and cobbled streets inspires this range of miniature silver houses with coloured resin details. They’re a nostalgic view of the past and a charming link to the present, designed to be worn with anything and to grow into a seaside collection of your very own.

These pieces from Becca evoke nostalgic childhood memories of holidays with Mum and Dad at the coast and of Tenby itself!

Kotomi Yamamura's handmade vintage inspired costume jewellery

Kotomi specialises in hand crafted costume jewellery.  Using polymer clay to bind and shape her work, she fashions jewellery from natural and semi-precious stones (smoky quartz, crystal quartz, fresh water pearls etc) and faceted glass stones with beads.

Kotomi chooses good quality semi-precious stones, pearls and beads for her jewellery

Kotomi’s work being strongly founded on traditional forms, together with the flair that she has for the exotic, means that she has found a ready and enthusiastic market at galleries and shops in London – I’m happy that she is now represented ‘up North’ at Heart Gallery!

Keep checking in to this blog as more showcases will be posted for your enjoyment. xXx

Stunning Mirror arrives at Heart Gallery … but not for long!

April 4, 2010

Photographs of this stunning mirror delivered to me last Thursday do not do it justice! Helping Bee out of her car with it was like a Laurel and Hardy sketch and it certainly was fun; giving us both a little boost of energy! At over 6ft tall and 3ft wide it was hard trying to find the perfect spot to show it off but we must have picked it as it sold 2 days later!

Bee has worked really hard, as is usual with all the pieces she creates for Heart Gallery, and put in many hours using collage, decoupage and finally painstakingly painting in to her finished design before sealing. It is difficult to decide which is my favourite part of this mirror but here are a few close ups for you to drool over!

Many images will be familiar to you but the text will not as Bee has copied her Grandma’s love letters and worked into them using them to compliment and enhance the finished mirror.

It is safe to say there is no favourite part to it as the whole mirror is a masterpiece of its own and I am so happy that it has sold so quickly. Bee’s stunning mirror is being delivered to its new owner next week and I know that is is going to  be cherished and loved in its new home for many years to come.

Bee has also delivered a ‘Love Chest’, which is a more subdued version of the mirror, and includes all her grandma’s love letters secretly lining the inside! I have a feeling this will not hang around n Heart Gallery for long either!

I hope you have enjoyed this blog and if you have time to pop in to see the mirror before it flies off on its merry way, then I will see you soon xXx
