As a qualified ceramicist, Julia started her business in April 2009 as a part-time activity making items for her own pleasure whilst completing the final stages of a teaching training course. During her work as a BTEC Fine Art Course Leader at Cirencester College that year, Julia gradually developed her range of shapes and patterns. With continued demand and expansion of stockists and online outlets, ‘Julia Davey Ceramics’ became her full-time occupation in July 2010.
Julia currently works from a small studio in Bath, Somerset designing and making small batches of ceramic items in her two electric kilns.
Themes running through Julia’s work vary greatly as she is continuously inspired by the events, places and objects that she encounters. One day it is flamingos at the zoo and the next a bee trapped in her garden shed.
All Julia’s fabulous pieces are made from white earthenware and then decorated using her original illustrations combined with decadent lustre.
Julia has an extensive range of tableware slip cast shapes at her disposal and balances her time between this decorative technique and making jewellery, delicate butterflies or hand-formed coasters.
Heart Gallery is proud to showcase Julia’s ever-changing collections and our favourite collection simply has to be her Robot pieces. This fabulous Robot collection is in Heart Gallery now along with Julia’s new Fox range so call in soon to admire …..
