So Sunday was the launch of one of our most exciting exhibitions in 6 years, May All Your Dreams Come True, inspired by fairytales and folklore. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland, eating mini fairy cakes made for us by Truly Scrumptious, listening to magical stories in the garden told by nationally acclaimed storyteller Ursula Holden Gill and chatting to customers about the amazing work we are currently showcasing. Here is a little glimpse at our day:

Continuing with the “I Do” Wedding and Love themed exhibition running from Valentine’s Day, one of Heart Gallery’s resident artists, Heather Wilson makes beautiful unique hats for all occasions. If you need something to match an outfit, just bring it in, and discuss your requirements with her.

The range is based around mini top hats (very popular with the present Burlesque trend) and smaller, dainty Fascinators and feathery hairbands. She will also embellish handbags to match. Heather makes hats for the Mothers of the Bride and Groom, Bridesmaids, and of course, The Bride. She has also made hats for visits to the Races and that prestigious Summer Garden Party in London!

In addition, and ideal for a perfect wedding present, Heather also creates stunning personalised Name Pictures – finely detailed paintings – based around the Bride and Groom’s names. Copying from photographs provided, she can include the family group, cake, venue - in fact, anything, as long as there is a photo to copy.

Heather also makes lovely framed montages of actual items from the Wedding that are usually hidden away in boxes – such as Order of Service, Menu, photos of the venue, place name labels, confetti, or anything that will remind you of your Special Day.

December gives you more days to shop at Heart Gallery as we open our doors every day until 5pm Christmas Eve – great news. You will be able to browse at leisure to find that perfect gift and all under the one roof. Choose from leather wallets, purses, bags and ipod covers from talented maker Gregg McDonald or hats, fascinators and sexy beaded corsets for the party season from the mad and beautiful Heather Wilson. New and unique jewellery now in can tempt the magpie in you or you can fall in love with our retro phones and contemporary homeware and of course Christmas would not be complete without the perfect candle to burn, hand-poured for us in Lancashire. Heart Gallery would not be the same without it’s quirky and unusual ‘one-off’ pieces either from furniture for your home to mixed media pieces and ‘creatures’ made from socks! Heather Wilson’s amazing new work

 

One of Heart Gallery’s Resident Artists, Heather Wilson, has branched out into making Mad Hats and embellishing corsets.

It all started with a red mini top hat, which she decorated with feathers, velvet, beads, and netting, (which she even set fire to!) – and named it the Twisted Firestarter Hat.

It is part of an Elements theme, and the Water element came next, decorated with soft, floaty, bluey green chiffons, netting, beads…and a small shark. That one is called Shark Hattack, and has a matching neck piece with, you’ve guessed, sharks on it!

From seeing Heathers Mad Hats visitors to the Gallery have shown much interest, and Heather has already been commissioned to make two fascinators, for a mother and daughter, for a November Wedding. These are available to see in her studio, as they are being kept safely in a display case until needed.

Ideal for Weddings, Special Events and Festive Parties, Heather makes these to order. Prices are from £25.00 for the fascinators, and from £50.00 for the mini top hats.

 

Keeping to the theme of glamour and sparkles, Heather also decorates ready-made corsets. She takes a basic satin overbust steel boned corset, and adds beading, ribbons, and any decoration to suit an outfit. To be in time for the Festive Party Season, please come and see a sample of Heather’s work in the studio. She can also do these  for Weddings, evening wear, or simply a treat to make you feel totally glamorous!

Prices for the corsets will vary, depending on the amount of detail, but start from £175.00

 

As an extra note, Heather would like to remind anyone wanting to place an order for a Name Picture for Christmas, to please see her as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. She will need as much time as possible to complete your paintings, as orders will be mounting up over the next few weeks.

Heather has been a resident maker at Heart Gallery since October 2007 proving very popular with my loyal customers and visitors alike. She has recently launched her new website to compliment her beautiful, creative space in Heart Gallery - http://hwilsonart.com.

Heather makes finely detailed personalised paintings,
thought provoking, and sometimes funny decorative objects, 
collages and keepsakes, weavings and murals.

Taking inspiration from the items we hoard and collect, 
Heather creates personal artworks, arranging the objects 
and mementoes gathered by the client, making them into 
a celebration of a life, a holiday or a special occasion.

Heather is mainly known for her immensely popular 
Personalised Name Pictures. These are finely detailed
watercolour paintings, with the letters of the name 
set in one of many varied background scenes.

Details which can be included are: Date, weight, 
time and place of birth; favourite toys, occupations,
hobbies. Family members and pets can all be put into the
picture (copied from photographs provided).

Not only for Babies, these pictures are perfect presents
for Weddings, Anniversaries and Special Birthdays,
such as 21st, 50th, 60th, etc.
