Nicola’s other ranges incorporate silver and gold with precious and non precious stones in some pieces, and simply silver or gold in others. All Nicola’s jewellery is beautifully elegant, contemporary and easy to wear. The inspiration for designs comes from Nicola’s fascination of architecture, clean and simple lines and her love of making the jewellery. New collections are frequently produced as well as many one-off pieces and commissions undertaken so take a look at her other pieces here.

Jessica Sherriff - Jeweller

Jessica Sherriff – Jeweller

Jessica creates a unique range of contemporary acrylic jewellery.  Inspired by the colours and views of her beautiful surroundings, Jessica uses her own photographic images of Yorkshire, from the overall landscape to close up trees and flowers, and displays them within the jewellery using a unique printing technique.

Jessica uses the acrylic in a variety of thickness, and combines matt and shiny surfaces to create an unusual distorted, but intriguing effect to the images.

This technique allows her to create both bold and subtle colour waves and designs.  She enjoys exploring the possibilities of acrylic and her enthusiasm grows the more she experiments.

Caroline Parrott – designer/maker

Caroline works in anodised aluminium, which she hand prints and dyes to create a range of jewellery, home and garden accents and mixed media automata.

Caroline runs her business as a maker alongside working as an arts education officer at a popular contemporary craft venue in Dorset. This combination of pursuits has led her to develop her role as a workshop tutor, she now runs regular creative classes using colourful aluminium, as well as outreach work and community projects with local schools and children’s groups. Projects have included giant swarms of butterflies adorning public spaces and school grounds.

Caroline’s love of making automata was born out of the need to allow people to touch work in a gallery environment. Its endless possibilities, limitless humour and accessibility to all make the work a joy to design and create. She relishes the interaction that can be created between a viewer and a moving object.

Caroline often chooses to combine her metal with vintage ephemera and old-fashioned containers found at antique markets. She takes much of her inspiration from traditional insect collections and Victorian apparatus, including wood and brass fittings wherever possible.

Heart Gallery loves Carolines work and finds it really cheery – particularly making us smile us through the start of a very wet and soggy June in Hebden Bridge! We hope you love her work too and will be wearing your little piece of Caroline when the sun peeks out!

Gail is a designer/maker living in Lancashire, England. She creates fashion accessories from wool mix felt as she wanted to use felt in a sculptural way.  She thinks textiles must be in her blood. In tracing her family tree she discovered her ancestors worked in the textile mills of Lancashire as far back as 1800 and probably beyond.

Heather Wilson’s amazing new work

October 19, 2008

One of Heart Gallery’s Resident Artists, Heather Wilson, has branched out into making Mad Hats and embellishing corsets.
It all started with a red mini top hat, which she decorated with feathers, velvet, beads, and netting, (which she even set fire to!) – and named it the Twisted Firestarter Hat.

It is part of an Elements theme, and the Water element came next, decorated with soft, floaty, bluey green chiffons, netting, beads…and a small shark. That one is called Shark Hattack, and has a matching neck piece with, you’ve guessed, sharks on it!

From seeing Heathers Mad Hats visitors to the Gallery have shown much interest, and Heather has already been commissioned to make two fascinators, for a mother and daughter, for a November Wedding. These are available to see in her studio, as they are being kept safely in a display case until needed.

Ideal for Weddings, Special Events and Festive Parties, Heather makes these to order. Prices are from £25.00 for the fascinators, and from £50.00 for the mini top hats.

Keeping to the theme of glamour and sparkles, Heather also decorates ready-made corsets. She takes a basic satin overbust steel boned corset, and adds beading, ribbons, and any decoration to suit an outfit. To be in time for the Festive Party Season, please come and see a sample of Heather’s work in the studio. She can also do these  for Weddings, evening wear, or simply a treat to make you feel totally glamorous!

Prices for the corsets will vary, depending on the amount of detail, but start from £175.00

As an extra note, Heather would like to remind anyone wanting to place an order for a Name Picture for Christmas, to please see her as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. She will need as much time as possible to complete your paintings, as orders will be mounting up over the next few weeks.

If you would like to contact Heather, please call Heart Gallery on 01422 845845, or her mobile phone 07841 400 542.

Celebrate Summer at Heart Gallery

July 9, 2008

Well folks, despite the weather being so wet for this time of year things are warm, inviting and sunny in Heart Gallery. The latest work has been well received and so I thought I would share a few more images with you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Amy Keeper’s silver photo etched jewellery using old postcards has just arrived and is stunning – call in to see her earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and cufflinks soon, you will not be disappointed.

Amanda Bates’ textile work is just wonderful and incorporates automata so if you look at this piece very carefully you can see a small mechanism to the right. If you call in to Heart Gallery to ‘have a play’ you will be able to see the Magpies do their own special ‘jig’!!

Leigh is one of Heart Gallery’s local designer/makers and her latest range has been a hit. She uses vintage Mah Jong and scrabble tiles as her inspiration and covers them with japanese papers and a non-toxic coating turning them into necklaces with a matchin tin or pot to keep them in. At £38 and £30 respectively for these amazing pieces they are perfect not only for gifts but as treats for yourself.

Helen Noakes

April 28, 2008

Helen makes a fantastically, unique range of jewellery, but then most designer/makers do! How dull to stick to just earrings but …what a pair!! Helen’s work is greatly admired in Heart Gallery and I am really proud she chose me as one if her outlets. Helen recently described me as a ‘breath of fresh air’ but I have to say her innovative work also fits into this description! Make sure you call in soon to see her amazing pieces.
