Cathy draws inspiration from all things earthy and organic being intrigued by delicate insects, fragile skeleton leaves and human skin; as when studier closer you see that all are made up of intricate networks of lines and detailed patterns that create incredible natural surface decoration, which is reflected in her jewellery.

In this collection Cathy has made for Heart Gallery’s Christmas Exhibition, the elegant and feminine forms have been created in silver through the traditional silversmithing techniques of chasing and repoussé where repetitive hammering allows Cathy to capture the flowing textures and patterns of nature that she loves.

Cathy aims to make contemporary jewellery that sparks the sense of touch with intrigue, the depth of texture creating surfaces that are uneven yet smooth, inviting you to trace the patterns of the metal.

Our Summer Showcase will introduce new makers to the gallery from June through until August 2012; celebrating the very best of British Contemporary Craft.

At GNCCF October 2011, Heart Gallery was asked to be a prize sponsor and proudly offered an exhibition opportunity to Suet Yi Ceramics which set the ball rolling to find makers that would compliment Suet’s work which is inspired by the beauty of wild flowers, falling leaves, autumn trees and resting birds.

Celebrate Summer- 21 June 2008

Not given you any news for a while but that is because life has been so, so busy getting this exhibition organised for this Saturday. I must say all the hard work has been worth it and Heart Gallery is looking fantastic …. as usual. I will post some internal pictures up soon but here is an image of one of the pieces on show to whet your appetite and I hope you will visit soon.
