From her workshop in Hebden Bridge, Sue makes contemporary porcelain tableware, wall pieces and jewellery decorated in grey, silver and blue. Each piece is individually constructed using clay slabs, and decorated using a variety of techniques including inlay, sgraffito, impressing, incising and metal lustre painting.
Each piece has an initial bisque firing to 1000°C, after which a transparent glaze is applied and fired to 1240°C. Her new silver range has a third firing to 750°C after painting on a platinum lustre. All tableware is waterproof and dishwasher safe.
Sue calls them ‘Mustard’, ’Tealight’, ‘Jewellery’ etc, but the uses to which they can be put are limited only by the imagination! Or if function isn’t your thing, then they can be used for…..nothing at all! Sue’s designs comprise simple geometric shapes and more figurative representations of seaside structures
Simply choose your preferred design, decide which shapes you want and start collecting. 10 shapes, 4 designs and 2 colours to choose from! The designs are beachhut, lamp-post, squares and silver but at Heart Gallery Sue does a great range of Hebden Bridge Houses!
Sue is an Associate Member of Northlight Art Studios in Hebden Bridge, and a member of Northern Potters Association. For the last 5 years Sue has been working full-time as a ceramic artist, selling directly to the public and to galleries throughout the British Isles and Heart Gallery is proud to be one of Sue’s chosen local stockist for her functional range.
