Bronwen has been one of Heart Gallery’s jewellers for four years and our customers love her work; often commissioning her to make a bespoke and personalised piece for themselves or a loved one.
The inspirations for her creations are taken from a diverse and very varied range of influences such as comedy, mechanical components, symbols, movement and text. Words and narrative derived from all areas play an essential role in the thought process and construction of her inventions; one word, phrase or title can spark off a whole range of ideas. The inclusion of humour and animation is very important in all aspects of her work, along with function (no matter how small!).
The materials that she uses for her Metalwork Inventions are copper, brass and nickel; she places great emphasis on her choice of materials, as they must be robust, tactile and pleasing to the eye. The metals used need to be durable to enable them to withstand the pressures of fabrication such as; forming, manipulating, hammering and chemical patination. No two pieces are identical; therefore they display a unique character which is further developed through the personality of the owner.
Bronwen’s objective is to produce pieces that can be handled and worn/used on a day-to-day basis, whilst still retaining their aesthetic values.
Bronwen’s jewellery continues to evolve and includes the same humour and narrative as her inventions. She works predominantly in silver but also uses 9ct gold to enhance where required.
If you don’t yet own a little bit of Bronwen’s amazing work then maybe this blog will tempt you into calling in to Heart Gallery to see her full range soon …… I adore this tiny chest!
