Louise has been an artist printmaker for many years specialising in etching and other intaglio techniques. Recently she has explored digitality in printmaking by using solar plates with photographed images of ‘found structures’ and organic forms. Some of these are also included in the Print Council’s 8th Mini Print Exhibition that opened in London in 2012.
Currently Louise is mainly working on Seeing Poetry, a collaboration with poet Clare Shaw (Blood Axe Books). She illustrates the poems as comics using digital techniques. The results of the collaboration were presented at several art and literary festivals including Hebden Bridge Fringe 2012. Occasionally Louise illustrates her own writing such as the graphic short story ‘The Chocolates’.
Louise shares a studio in Linden Art Studios, Hebden Bridge. She completed an MA in Digital Image and Media 2008 which included developing the surface of digital prints. Also photo etching and photopolymer techniques have been used to explore found objects and organic forms.
Louise also completes occasional graphic design work. This included winning a t-shirt design competition to illustrate a Cerys Matthews album which was to be titled ‘Blue Betty ‘The Torrid Affairs of a Reluctant House Keeper’. She also works as a freelance curator and was gallery manager at West Yorkshire Print Workshop from Nov 2009 -Nov 2011.
