Charlotte is a North Yorkshire based ceramicist who recently graduated from the University of Cumbria where she studied Contemporary Applied Arts.
Charlotte currently works with porcelain to create her quirky compilation of decorative and functional ceramic items. These are slab-built and then decorated by hand using a ceramic paint called underglaze.
The basis of Charlotte’s recent work reflects her interest in historical events and everyday life in the early 1900s. Her newest ceramic pieces are reminiscence of vintage packaging and advertising which she enjoys collecting.
Through form and juxtapose of decoration, that documents her collected items and celebrates times past, Charlotte aims to create ceramic items that are visually stimulating to her audience.
Heart Gallery loves Charlotte’s work and we hope you do too. Here she is explaining her process to a keen customer at Saltaire Arts Trail earlier this year.
