Judith seeks to create elegant, feminine wire jewellery with a nostalgic feel, she likes to recycle and upcycle found objects like vintage haberdashery into contemporary jewellery.
Judith’s use of old haberdashery such as antique lace and buttons, vintage hooks, eyes and press studs is a nostalgic nod to her Mum’s old button tin that she played with as a child, and to those other women who hoarded away such treasures in the times of “make do and mend”.
She has developed a way of stitching with wire to create intricate shapes reminiscent of lace.
From an Embroidery background she seeks to highlight the beauty of the stitch itself.
Her work has featured in both the V&A and the British Museum and now in Heart Gallery as part of our Wedding Exhibition ‘I DO’.
