Lisa studied Three Dimensional Design at Manchester Metropolitan University in the late 80’s and went onto teach Design Technology for many years at Skipton Girls High School. She now lives and makes Automata in Hebden Bridge, in her studio at Northlight Art Studios.
In the last two years she has set up her studio and is successfully making automata again. Her work has recently been shown in the Craven Museum Skipton, Platform Gallery, Clitheroe and at Out Of The Stable exhibition, Blackheath London where she won best in show.
Lisa works on enhancing old objects of interest and function to become automaton. Mechanically the piece is very simple powered by one axel with cams and followers. The different cams turning create a circular motion into either a rotary or reciprocating motion.
Lisa’s work is interesting and interactive so do bob in and have a little play!
