Making And Doing Festival – Hebden Bridge

South Pennines organised a MAD (Making and Doing) Festival weekend around our region with lots and lots of activities going on in Holmfirth, Marsden, Slaithwaite and of course Hebden Bridge on Sat 5th and Sunday 6th October 2013.

Making & doing2On Saturday, Made in the Valley presented a Meet the Maker Market at The Town Hall.  This was a busy event with people heading there to meet artists, makers and food producers galore. Visitors got to taste bread and cheese, build a fire, grow food and  have a go at origami, leatherwork, embroidery, pottery, sewing, poetry and  jewellery-making.

Here at Heart Gallery you could bob in on Saturday 5th October to meet our resident MAD HATTER, Heather Wilson, and chat to her about her Alice In Wonderland and other themed hats and then call back again Sunday 6th October to meet one of our local artists (and lovely member of the very wonderful Heart Gallery princesses), Julia Ogden.

The weekend was very successful and lots of happy people had a go at screenprinting their own little birdie card as a keepsake … perhaps there are now some budding printmakers out there inspired by Julia and her work! If you are keen to learn more visit Julia’s Art Tutoring page here.
