With a delicate style of throwing and combined poured and dipped glazing technique, Kirsty has created a unique collection of domestic and studio porcelain. Each piece contains an element of spontaneity and individuality, with refined throwing lines combined with the incidental marks and story of the glazing technique.
Kirsty originally trained at Brighton Art College. However, her main inspiration and methods of working were developed whilst living and training on the potters’ wheel in Japan. She became particularly inspired by the Oribe style of glazing and this has influenced all her subsequent work.
Kirsty Adams Ceramics is included in the collector’s handbook of British Studio Potters’ Marks and the more recently published Handmade in Britain – Appreciating Contemporary Artisans.
Kirsty’s work has been exhibited in many UK galleries and used in several magazine photoshoots in the UK and the USA. Kirsty’s tableware collection was used and featured on the recent set of the BBC series The Great British Bake Off.
Heart Gallery is proud to be showcasing Kirsty’s collection as part of our Christmas At Heart Exhibition which launch this last weekend and runs until 19 January 2014.
