Henrietta Fernandez – Jeweller

Henrietta creates modern feminine jewellery-often bold, sometimes delicate and tiny, inspired by her love of floral pattern, graphic shapes, colour and simple form. Customers have described her work as chic, elegantly understated, cheerful, pretty, happy, and precise!

Henrietta has been making jewellery full and part time since her degree in Jewellery Design at Middlesex Poly in the 80s, and as apprentice to Wendy Ramshaw following on from that. Henrietta finally too the plunge to set up her business in 2005/6, after a number of years as a school teacher of Design and Technology. Since then she has seen a steady increase in sales and appreciation of her work.

Henrietta is pleased to have been repeatedly selected to show her work at high- end, design-led contemporary craft shows such as Made London, Made Brighton and Crafts at Bovey Tracey, and as a member of the acclaimed Designer Jewellers Group at the Barbican in London. She lives and works in the historic and creative town of Lewes, in her tiny workshop spending many hours developing ideas, until she feels that they are right and perfect in design and finish.

Henrietta uses a range of traditional workshop techniques producing one-offs and using small batch production processes like casting, for some elements of her work. Oxidised silver, 18 ct yellow gold, resins, and pretty stones enhance Henrietta’s work, which is finished by hand with a cool, elegant satin finish.
