Louise is a contemporary wire artist based in Staffordshire. She uses wire and found materials to create 3D drawings and sculptures of everyday objects.
Louise’s inspirations include found objects and nostalgic items and anything she finds that has an interesting line. She then aims to give this line a new life through different experimental techniques.
The wire is simple and elegant allowing the focus to be on the line of the object, something so simple and yet often missed.
Louise aims to bring a decorative touch to the wire using thread wrapping, twisting and rolling and also including real objects.
The sculptures are often to scale, replicating the object. The line looks almost drawn on creating the impression of three dimensional drawings.
Louise’s latest work for Heart Gallery’s Summer Showcase includes Puncture Repair Kits with little wire bikes and larger wire bike sculptures featuring wrapped coloured thread … all inspired by Le Tour Grand Départ Stage 2 heading through Hebden Bridge on the 6th July!
