Blurry hearts

Meet Alice Clarke; one of our jewellers of 2014 inspired by her rural roots and driven by a sensitive narrative. Alice uses the imprint that her home surroundings in North Yorkshire have had on her in order to create her work.

Alice Clarke – Jeweller

From her urban studio, this farmer’s granddaughter and student at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham shapes beautiful rings and necklaces in silver, marked with the patterns and textures of the lichen and stone that surrounded her as she grew up in a remote part of Nidderdale. Now working back in Yorkshire Alice makes her jewellery in a suitably quirky, small wooden shed, where she looks out on the magnificent scenery that informs her work.
