As a child Teresa loved to curl up in a chair with a book and read of magical worlds, brave deeds and princesses. The only pastime she enjoyed more was to draw the pictures these stories suggested … and she still loves doing this.
Nowadays Teresa is also a storyteller, and stories continue to inspire her work. Some of the images emerge from the well known tales such as the Red Shoes, but others drift into her mind quite unexpectedly, often just when she is falling asleep!
Some images are not about a traditional wonder tale, and she likes to think that the viewer will seek their their own story asking themselves what it’s all about!
Alongside this solo show in our Picture Gallery there will be complimentary work in the main gallery by designers/makers new to Heart Gallery as well as exciting new work from some of our old favourites:
Here are two little collages of snippets of amazing new work heading our way for THE WAY THROUGH THE WOODS.
The brief for these artists was fairytales, woodland inhabitants, folklore, vintage stories, nostalgia and dreams…and they have all come up trumps with the work they have produced for us.
If we’ve not already grabbed your attention then just listen to this my friends … our launch night on 16th July which begins at 6pm will also feature our very own Hebden Bridge based Ursula Holden-Gill.
Join us for a wonderful evening of family friendly storytelling with nationally acclaimed, Hebden Bridge based, storyteller Ursula Holden-Gill.
Ursula Holden-Gill is an award winning actress but now she has walked into the limelight as a highly gifted storyteller. As well as being an insightful comedienne and a very impertinent musician she has that rare gift of authenticity in her humour.
On Thursday 16th July Ursula will bring us a crafted collection of fairy and folktale to reflect the magical element of Teresa’s work, this is certainly a date for your diary you cannot miss. THE WAY THROUGH THE WOODS will be a truly magical exhibition not to be missed.
This exhibition runs from 16th July 2015 until 13th September 2015 … see you there xXx
