INVITE FRONT WEBTHE WAY THROUGH THE WOODS – A solo show with Brighton based printmaker and painter Teresa Winchester.

Teresa WinchesterAs a child Teresa loved to curl up in a chair with a book and read of magical worlds, brave deeds and princesses. The only pastime she enjoyed more was to draw the pictures these stories suggested … and she still loves doing this.

Nowadays Teresa is also a storyteller, and stories continue to inspire her work. Some of the images emerge from the well known tales such as the Red Shoes, but others drift into her mind quite unexpectedly, often just when she is falling asleep!

Some images are not about a traditional wonder tale, and she likes to think that the viewer will seek their their own story asking themselves what it’s all about!

The brief for these artists was fairytales, woodland inhabitants, folklore, vintage stories, nostalgia and dreams…and they have all come up trumps with the work they have produced for us.
